We had the best moose hunting season ever with success over 75%. After a record year in 2016, followed by an even better year in 2017, I did not think it could be any better but 2019 ended up being our best year ever. It started out slow with very warm weather and even though it stayed warm thru the entire season we had very little rain and the hunting was great. We had such great weather that only one group was a day late getting in and they tagged out and came out a day early. Every other group either went in on time or early.  Every group got out on time or earlier if they tagged out. If we have a cool season next year I can only imagine how great the hunting season will be. Our self -guided hunters had an actual kill rate of 75%. Our guided clients were 100% on 60 plus inch bulls.

We had some of the worst weather I have seen for years in September 2018. We had record hot temperatures throughout the season followed by days and days of rain. We were late picking up many of our hunters due to so many days we couldn’t fly, but still came up with a 60% success rate. The hunters took very good care of their meat so, even in such bad conditions, we didn’t have spoiled moose. Once more, we had several repeat hunters that passed up on bulls looking for a monster and we had groups of 2 hunters that only wanted one moose.

We had our best moose season ever in September 2017 with a success rate over 80%. We harvested 36 bull moose which was only five bulls less than we harvested in 2016, but we cut back on hunters in 2017 and had 15 fewer hunters. Our best year ever had been 2016, but 2017 topped it in hunter success. Once more we had several repeat hunters that passed up on bulls looking for a monster and we had groups of 2 hunters that only wanted one moose.

In 2016 our hunter success was over 80% again. We harvested 41 bulls which was our best year ever despite the extreme wet weather and high water. Hunting was tough the end of the season which is normally our best time. This shows how the population is on the increase, even with tough hunting conditions we managed to have our best year. We had 9 groups that were 100% and one of those groups was a party of 4.
