Alaska Hunting is Affordable

Willow Air is a fully certified, fully insured air taxi operating out of Willow, Alaska. We are approximately 70 miles north of Anchorage. We are a small family business, and every year we have customers tell us our service is better by far than any air taxi they have flown with. We will be happy to provide you with references, just ask. Safety is our number one priority and our airplanes are maintained to the highest possible standards by some of the best airplane mechanics in Alaska. Please have some leeway at either end of your hunt to allow for bad weather, because your safety is our number one goal.
We provide fully guided and drop-off unguided hunts. If you are in good physical condition, a drop-off hunt is the most economical way to hunt moose, black bear, wolf and wolverine. Our drop-off hunts can be tailored to your individual needs. You can bring all your own gear or we can rent any or all the gear you will need, including tents, cooking stoves, utensils, boats, motors, etc. To hunt brown bear, sheep and goats, by law you must hire a guide. We have fully certified guides and several one-on-one and two-on-one hunts available.
We do take a limited number of hunters, so book early to avoid disappointment.

HOW IS WILLOW AIR DIFFERENT
Our airplanes in McGrath are dedicated moose hunters during the month of September. Most air taxis drop you off and come back and pick you up in 10 days. We are in McGrath for the entire moose season so when the weather is flyable we are taking care of moose hunters. We recommend all our self-guided moose hunts rent a satellite phone. On our self-guided, fixed-camp hunts, we drop you off; then when you kill a moose you can call us and we can put you on the schedule to pick your moose up as soon as possible and bring it back to McGrath. That way you don’t have to babysit it to protect it from weather and bears. That is very important. You can concentrate on helping your partner get his moose instead of guarding yours. If you are on a float hunt, you can call us ahead and let us know you have a moose and if you tag out we will try to fit you in for an earlier pickup, time and weather permitting. At Willow Air we take a limited number of hunters and we take care of them, instead of overbooking and not being able to provide good service.
BEST MOOSE HUNTING IN ALASKA
Willow Air is very proud of it's moose hunts in western Alaska. Year after year we have fabulous success on large trophy bulls in this area. We are never under 50% actual kill. There are very few guides in Alaska that can boast a success rate as high as ours on guided hunts that cost three times as much as our hunts. The reason for this is that we only take a limited number of hunters each season. We have a permit to hunt the Innoko Wildlife Refuge which is hundreds of square miles of the best moose habitat in Alaska. Also there are no villages or homesteads near where we hunt, so there is no local hunting pressure. This is not just a drop off hunt it is a first class hunt where we provide rafts for a float hunt or boats and motors to hunt from a fixed camp. The moose are killed close to the water so packing is minimum which is important when moose hunting. We fly the river daily (weather permitting) so when you kill your moose you can call us on a satellite phone and we will put you on our schedule to pick up your moose as soon as possible and bring it back to McGrath. That way you can continue hunting with your partner instead of babysitting your moose. We bring a lot of hunters out early after they kill their moose. This area also has excellent black bear and wolf hunting, and excellent pike and grayling fishing at no additional cost. Moose season in this area is from Sept. 5-20, and the length of our hunts is ten days.
WE NOW SELL TRIP INSURANCE
We now offer trip insurance for all our trips at affordable prices. This is the best way to protect your investment since for many people this might be the trip of a lifetime. You are covered due to any illness in your group or family, or any delays due to weather. Alaska can have unpredictable weather, so for this reason alone I strongly recommend trip insurance to protect your investment.
